Our guest speaker for May is Campbell Chamber of Commerce board member Dan Orloff. Dan will share stories about Campbell&rsquo\;s and Silicon Valley&rsquo\;s contributions to the music world. \;
\n\nDan and music were an organic match from birth. Dan&rsquo\;s father\, Jerry Orloff\, was a barbershop quartet legend and was inducted into Nashville&rsquo\;s International Barbershop Harmony Society Hall of Fame in 2011. Dan&rsquo\;s musical bent took a different direction. In 1963\, he learned that he was a shirttail cousin of rock legend Bob Dylan. Dan immediately picked up the guitar. He has played guitar or drums kit in cover bands ever since.
\n\nIt was only natural that in 2005\, Dan&rsquo\;s love affair with both music and local history would lead the Orloff Marketing team to create San Jose Rocks. The organization&rsquo\;s mission is simple and focused. It exists to honor and tell the stories about a unique environment \;that has spawned creative people who&mdash\;both as performers and technical innovators--have converged to shape the soundtrack of our world. From the Grateful Dead to the Doobie Brothers\, from Smash Mouth to Trapt\, from Ampex to Apple iTunes and GarageBand\, the South Bay and Silicon Valley have made an indelible mark.
\n\nDan owns \;Orloff Marketing in San Jose. His firm serves as the out-sourced marketing department for start-ups and small to medium-sized businesses throughout the Bay Area. Dan is a managing member and part owner of Pruneyard Cinemas and Cedar Room\, is an active member of \;Rotary Club of San Jose \;and member of the San Jose Fountain Blues &\; Brews Festival and Foundation board of directors.
