About Us

For the past 10 years, Sushi Randy, as he is known in the business, has changed the way the Bay Area enjoys sushi. When Sushi Confidential opened in downtown Campbell 2012, and then downtown San Jose in 2016, and most recently Morgan Hill in 2022, Randy Musterer brought his personal flair to this edible art form. By focusing on a fun, engaging atmosphere along with daring taste combinations, Randy has brought sushi to the public for a truly unique dining experience. With concession pop-ups at Shoreline Amphitheatre, SAP Center/Shark Tank, and most recently at The Plex in San Jose, Sushi Confidential is reaching even more Bay Area sushi lovers.

Randy taught himself how to make sushi as a college student, then trained first with a Korean Sushi Chef, then a Japanese Chef in the evenings, all while working as a Cancer Research Scientist for 17 years. Randy’s background in cancer research and infectious diseases has unknowingly put himself in a great position to help his restaurants and others pivot and plan accordingly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

By combining his outgoing personality and passion for educating others with the artistry of sushi making, Randy has been able to channel his vision for Sushi Confidential into an award winning restaurant, with catering, corporate and sushi-making classes available for those who want to go further in their sushi adventures.
